The International Convention Centre (ICC), Durban, will be the venue for the World Conference Against Racism (WCAR). The Centre will contain the following facilities:

NGO FORUM

The Kingsmead Cricket Stadium will be the venue for the NGO Forum, which will be held from 28 August until 1 September.

DISABLED FACILITIES

The design of the ICC is such that emphasis was placed on the Centre being 100% user friendly towards people with physical challenges. Facilities at the Centre are as follows:

  • A Braille trail throughout the public areas
  • Audio information and directions in respect of the public glass lift
  • The facility is fully accessible to persons in wheel chairs either through ramped access and/or lifts. The design of the lifts is such that controls are accessible to people in wheelchairs
  • The Centre’s evacuation system is audible and visible i.e. flashing strobes are fitted to indicate the need to evacuate the facility
  • Sufficient number of physically challenged ablutions to accommodate wheelchairs (in public areas)
  • The main registration area includes a low desk to accommodate delegates in wheelchairs
  • The Centre has a limited number of wheelchairs on request for persons requiring these services
